Privacy Policy

Summary

WhisperFree is designed for privacy. Your audio never leaves your machine. We collect the bare minimum needed to validate licenses and deliver the product. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data.

1. What We Collect

2. What We Do NOT Collect

• Audio recordings — never captured, stored, or transmitted
• Transcription text — processed in memory, never sent anywhere
• Keystroke data — only the configured hotkey is monitored
• Screen content — the app does not access screen content
• Browsing or usage analytics — no telemetry, no tracking
• Personal files — the app only accesses its own configuration files

3. Audio Processing

All speech-to-text processing happens entirely on your device using the OpenAI Whisper model running via whisper.cpp. Audio is captured from your microphone, processed in memory, and immediately discarded after transcription. No audio data is ever:

• Saved to disk
• Transmitted over the network
• Shared with any third party

4. Network Connections

WhisperFree connects to the internet only in these situations:

• License activation: On first launch and periodically (up to once every 30 days), the app contacts a license server to verify your key. Data sent: license key, machine ID (hash), computer name.
• Model download: On first launch only, if the speech model is not present, the app downloads it from a public model repository (a third-party model host). No personal data is sent.

The app functions fully offline between activation checks.

5. Payment Processing

Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor acting as merchant of record. We do not store or process credit card information. The payment processor's own privacy policy applies to payment data.

6. Data Storage and Security

License data is stored in a secure cloud database with row-level security policies. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Machine IDs are stored as SHA-256 hashes, not raw hardware identifiers.

7. Data Retention

• Activation records: Retained for the duration of your license plus 90 days
• Payment records: Retained by the payment processor per their policies
• Email address: Retained for license key delivery and support

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting support@tickerkey.com.

9. Children's Privacy

WhisperFree is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your stored data (machine ID, activation records)
• Delete your data by contacting support
• Deactivate your machine binding (to move to a new computer)
• Export your activation records

11. GDPR and CCPA

We comply with GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California) data protection regulations. The machine ID hash constitutes a pseudonymous identifier under GDPR. You may exercise your data rights by contacting support@tickerkey.com.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the website. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance.
